George Norlin Appointed CU President
In 1919, George Norlin is appointed as the president of the University of Colorado, after serving two years as acting president. Norlin was one of the most significant presidents in the history of the University, leading the school through the Great Depression, resisting pressure from the Ku Klux Klan to fire Jewish and Catholic faculty, and advocating for academic freedom before his retirement in 1939.
