Charter Members: Turner Hurst
Several other charter members of Beta Epsilon Chapter achieved acclaim later in life. Dorothy Hummell Marshall served on the Executive Board of Alpha Phi and the National Panhellenic Council, paving the way for later Fraternity leaders from Beta Epsilon, such Lisa Cabaniss Olson and Renee Zimmerman Smith Zainer.
Turner Hurst Hawes wrote poetry while receiving treatment for cancer, and, as a surprise, her friends and family published them as a book. The book was sold to benefit the American Cancer Society.
